AH!!!! SUCCESS!!!!! Much thanks for your feedback, this has been a problem for me for years.
With this there is no need to create a user account on the pc that owns the drive.
YEA, you got my vote for best solution.
I went down the path just to set Sharing. IMHO if you have Everyone on the Sharing tab they should be automatically on the Security tab with the same rights.
I now have Security settings (Full) being applied on all of my shared drives. Because of the size of these drives (1TB to 14TB) it will take a bit of time even with a six core processor.
...and your WORKGROUP type is Work and not Home? This has always worked for me
I just realized that the post topgundcpmade is no longer in the forum or at least I don't see it. Following is an image similar to what was included in the post
When I viewed the properties on my drives and selected the Security tab the user Everyone was not in the list. After adding Everyone to the list the access worked as expected. Previously I had just clicked on the Sharing tab and ensured that Everyone had full permissions.
BTW the setting for my 14TB drive (hardware RAID 5 array) is still running and it has been for over five hours. It is taking a LOT longer to apply the setting than I expected, the other seven drives applied the settings a long time ago but they are much smaller. The array is almost full thus windows has a LOT of work to do when applying this setting.
Personally, I wouldnt use Everyone. If anyone hacks into you, they have full access to everything and can demolish everything on your raid. I would rather set up accounts and access separately for each person. That way, I know who did all that damage. In the end with a little extra work, I feel more secure by using Authenticated Users.
If this helps.
step 1 create non-microsoft account and without email and address without admin rights
step 2 share a drive or folder to specific user account (if Everyone is listed, remove it)
step 3 set security > add Authenticated Users (if more than 1 account) or add specific users
step 3a remove Everyone from list
step 3b uncheck full control and write for all items listed except SYSTEM and Admin account.
step 4 right click Start > Computer Management > System Tools > Shared Folders > Shares ... to verify settings and change anything else. You can also see the number of connections to each share here.

Thanks a lot with this Thread I finally figured out how networking work with Win10.
Even if it's on my personal network I've created a simple new user with the same name password on each computers of my network just for sharing files.
The network is just for me it make thing harder in case someone try to hack my network and delete "just for the fun" it add a security layer. I feel more secure this way than having it shared to "EVERYONE" with full permission. I removed also the "public share" since I don't use them .
Thanks again to all contributors.
I was just going through this too. The name of the PC I'm trying to connect to is "TV", and say that the TV main user account is 'ebswift'. When connecting to the PC, connect as a different user, and instead of the usual 'ebswift' and 'password', put 'TV\ebswift' then the password. The account then connects and the shared drives show up.
