New Router Working with Internet but not PCs

    Hi

I seem to have a problem which on the face of it is purely due to installing a new up-to-date router. Prior to installing the router all PCs had access to the other two PCs on our network; lets call them A, B and C. Since installing the router I only have two way access between A and C. When A and C try to access B, after two minutes they comes up with a Path Not Found error (0x80070035). When B tries to access either A or C a message asking for credentials appears (there seems to be some sort of pattern there in that when A and C try to access B the path can't be found but when B tries to access A and C credentials are requested -- does this mean anything to anyone?). Now we have NEVER used credentials at ANY time and nothing has been changed re the setting up of the three PCs - the only thing that HAS changed is the router.

The router installed is an Asus RT-AC68U which I have now got working with the internet and a wired network and I thought, until yesterday, it was working between PCs but today I found this is NOT the case and I am seeking help in getting this sorted as I have no idea what may be wrong. All four services that are supposed to be running for network discovery are running but quite frankly I just don't know what to try next. So any help out would be most appreciated. I'm sure there are questions that need to be asked so please ask away and I'll do my level best to help but please will you help. Thanks.

    Tracey

PS Just seen the note re the version of Windows. All PCs are on 1909 (18362.418) and all updates are installed on receipt

Backup a bit. Who is your ISP and are you using a router provided by them? If you are, you need to do some setup on the ISP device before connections from your device will happen. You can head over to snbforums for better help. Ihabe the RT68U and just set my ISP provided device in Bridge mode and made some changes in WAN settings on my router. I am running the Merlin firmware, so there are some under the hood changes that I had to do.

Windows will see it as a new network so check settings on each PC thàt it's not set public. Next can you print each of by name or IP. If you can use IP and not name it's because NetBIOS hasn't updated which may take some time but should come back once PC's have been on for a while pinging any PC not seen from others helps

    Hi Bro67

Thanks for your reply. To start with this is most definitely NOT an ISP supplied router and since I am with BT they provide the BT Home Hub. Some like 'em, others don't. I've been with BT around eight years and to start with I used their hub but went for a self supplied router as at that time only one output was available at 1gbs. Someone on the community forum said to go for a Netgear WNR3500L and I never regretted it. But changed it due to not getting any firmware updates for six years.

The Rat68u with Merlin’s asuswrt is the way to go. Follow these steps. Any issues, head over to snbforums for more help.
