Anyone Using "Team Viewer" For File sharing ?

    Hello,

Read a bit about Team Viewer for file sharing.
My son isn't in area, always has questions, and would be great
to "share" his desktop and questions, and modify what he is doing directly.

He has a W10 pc, and I have a W10 pc also, as well as a Mac.
Using either of mine would be fine. (could i use my Mac to talk to his W10 pc ?)

The Team Viewer site isn't all that clear on their free version, which
would probably be fine for me.
Don't need, probably, all the bells and whistles on their other versions.

Anyone using the free edition ?
Is it just the "Download" that is free, or it truly is free ?

If so, what are the limitations ?
Is it "free' only for some period of time, or indefinitely ?
    etc.

Any other free ones to consider ? Better/why ?

    Much thanks,
    Bob

For average user, Free version is fine, with no limitations for personal use.

From OP: Thanks and a quick one more, please

    Hi,

    Quick thanks.
Really appreciate the replies and info.

    One quick one more, please:

Does it have to be W10 pc to W10 pc, or can it
(also) be a Mac to W10 pc ?

    Thanks again,
    Bob

Have been using TeamViewer Free for some years occasionally now to help friends and family across Europe.
It is a great application and additionally to control remote pc you can transfer files or even copy and paste. In addition, you can communicate with the owner of the remote pc via audio and video.
When controlling a Mac with a Windows pc or vice versa, check that advanced settings in your TeamViewer options on your Windows whether you have Full Access allowed or another setting like View and Show under Advanced settings for connections to this computer and If you see Full Access here, you could check the settings on your Mac under Advanced settings for connections to other computers.

Have a read of this link!

    Hope this helps.

I've been using TeamViewer since version 4... so many years ago. Now I've retired I still use the free version with family and friends, to/from multiple platforms. Whilst I'm not keen on the iOS version, the Windows-to-Windows versions have always worked flawlessly, including File Transfer. Only yesterday I used it to transfer a multi-gigabyte collection of files to son-in-law's laptop.
