    Networking 2 PS’s

In the office we have 2 PC’s that originally came with win8
but now are running win 10. Both where set up that they could see the other PC
and also where able to open and change any file on it. After an update/upgrade
this is no longer possible. The strange part is that they still can print on
    the other pcs printer.
When I open file explorer and click on network then on add
devices and printers, under Bluetooth & other devices, I can see the other
computer, but below it says: not connected.
This is the exact same thing on both PC’s
Can anyone tell me where to go next?
    Thanks

Check Advanced Sharing in Network Center in the Control Panel to make sure that Discovery for Private networks is enabled, all PC’s are in a Private Network in Network Properties in System Settings for the adapter being used. Printers should not be on individual machines, they really need to be on a Print Server if they are not Wifi or Ethernet capable. Files should be on a Cloud Share like Sharepoijnt for Office365 Business, G Drive for Google or even a NAS. You are better off keeping a local copy of files and Cloud Based for backups and in case local files cannot be accessed.

Sharing c: and giving everyone rights is madness andy hacker. virus can run amuck. It will also confuse windows by default c is already shared as a hidden admin share c$ so you can connect to it and need to provide admin user and password on the pc you connecting to so you would connect \\pcname\c$ but the share is only part of the story you must have permission set on NTFS or you cant do anything

Thanks, but the printer are working fine as i said even tho the pc's can't see each other, Private network discovery is enabled as is printer sharing. We don't have cloud and I don't think we need that, because it was working just fine before. there are only 2 computers here, nothing fancy

Also make sure all computers are set to "workgroup" in order to share files.
