Can't get bluetooth to connect on Win10

    Hi,

This has been driving me up the wall for ages - and I can't for the life of me work it out. I've installed the drivers that came with my bluetooth dongle ( https://www.amazon.co.uk/EkoBuy%C2%A.../dp/B01D3Q0228 ) . I've tried their website as well (based on a google search), and it seems they have uploaded a crappy test site with lots of "lorem ipsum" content on it - which is useless)

Anyway - this is what I see in device manager:

Can't get bluetooth to connect on Win10-2019-10-15-06-50-22.png

....and this is what I get when opening the bluetooth terminal ("bluetooth radio" is turned on). Then alongside it is what I see what I try and debug bluetooth connections.

I just don't get why it won't recognise it :/ (I had issues with my old Win10 machine, but this one I've not managed to connect it once)

    TIA

Hi, what is the status of these services?

I'm a little surprised you had to install specific drivers for your device- was it not recognised when you plugged it in?

    Hi,

Yeah me too. The dongle did some with a small CD when I originally purchased it, but I can't find that now. I ended up downloading a driver from a website (as I couldn't find the originals)

    Service wise - they show:

Can't get bluetooth to connect on Win10-2019-10-15-09-34-19.png

I think that all looks ok?

Also, from the Actions Center, I don't see BT anywhere:

I guess because Windows doesn't think its an option (as its not recognising it)

    Cheers

FWIW the audio gateway service state is different.

    Device Manager- I see
Can't get bluetooth to connect on Win10-1.png

    - the last two relate to bluetooth headphones I've paired (not present at the moment)

It might be a good idea to try your device on another PC, and a known good bluetooth device on yours if possible.

Thanks. I'm actually only going to be using it for my mouse, so audio doesn't matter too much to me.

Are there any generic drivers I should try installing for BT? I'm sure on my old machine I had 3 or 4 showing up in Device Manager, but I only see the one now. I've tried multiple times uninstalling and re-installing the drivers, but it still doesn't work

Is it actually recognised as a usb device when you insert it?

Nothing comes up when I plug it in (I've tried all 3 front USB ports). Other stuff runs fine on those same ports

Perhaps the device is faulty.. as I suggested, you could try it in a different PC to confirm..

Very possible. I'm just booting up an old machine to try it

Do you have any suggestions for a decent dongle BT adaptor otherwise? I just went for a cheap one - but maybe it's worth spending a bit more on a recognised brand? (I've only had this one in Jan this year, and most of the time its been disconnected!)

    Cheers

Hmm well that dongle works fine on my dads laptop.

Try it on mine, and it pings up with something on the rear USB ports - but not the front ones.

I also have a second dongle I just tried:

    https://www.amazon.co.uk/Rocketek-Bl...32286611&psc=1

This one at least makes a "ding" when connecting it to the usb - but nothing more. It still doesn't offer me the BT services (if I try and start it, it says "Starting Bluetooth..." at the bottom right of the screen, and then goes off after a few seconds - but BT isn't started)

I may just have to get my brother to have a look at this (he does this kinda stuff as a job). So frustrating I can't get it going though (I'm far from tech-savvy, as I build websites all day long)

    Cheers
