and you conformed those services are running the Brink mentioned in tutorial.

    If you go

Start > Settings > Network and internet > Wifi

On the right hand side there should be a basic network diagram, really basic.

Under wifi icon in diagram it says Private Network? Sorry I know I asked before.

If you do the same on desktop only click on Ethernet, then on right click on "Network and Sharing". Under Network it also shows as private?

Yes I doublechecked again: both machines say the network is private.

So in the tutorial it talks to using password.

    Are you?

If so could you go to desktop and open Credential Manager. (Click start, then type credential manager)

Under Windows credentials are any listed for laptop. If so please delete. Then try accessing again using your user name on laptop and password.

    1. I do not use passwords for sharing.
    2. However, on the desktop I went to Credential Manager, windows credentials, and deleted the reference that was listed for the laptop.
    3. Went to the laptop. Since some time I use pincode, but it can be changed to username/password. I went successfully in using username/password.
    4. Went back to Desktop to check on the windows references, and did not find any.
    5. No difference found in the behavior of the network: Laptop still does not see Desktop. Desktop sees laptop. When I try to access it it say access denied, check spelling of name etc. When after that I run establish problems ,it says something like "your computer seems correctly configured but the device (laptop) does not respond" (In Dutch)
    6. On the laptop I did not find any windows reference.

Back to my other post have you setup shares and set permission on the share and NTFS? Windows doesn't like no password on network as it's a security risk

All drives are shared with full permission for everyone.

Point three says you use pincode which is just a password.

I would set sharing to use password and then when you access laptop from desktop use your user name and password on laptop.

Lets see if we can get one direction going.
