    NAS Drive Trouble


    Hi,

    I've been using a WD My Cloud EX2 Ultra with no problems until a few days ago. Now it wont show up on my PC on network. The only way it will work is if I plug it in directly to my PC which I can't do as I only have 1 ethernet LAN port which I use to connect to the internet.

    This is how I had it setup.

    Sky Hub -> Netgear Gigabit Ethernet Desk Switch > WD My Cloud EX2 Ultra

    If you can, to into the NAS drives control settings and see what version of SMB you are using, if it is version 1, change it to 2.

    If all else fails one could get a USB dongle that provides an additional Ethernet port on the computer.

    My Network consists of a WD 4-port Wireless Gigabit Router, WD 8-port Gigabit Switch, 5 computers, 2 printers and 2 WD 2TB NAS drives. The Internet is provided by a Wireless DSL Modem plugged into the Router. Everything is connected via Ethernet cables and Wi-Fi is available. Since your NAS works direct it may be that either your Router or your Switch has a problem, could be a bad port or bad patch cable, most times a cross-over is used instead of a straight-through.

    Checked its on SMB 3, it seems to be working fine since I rebooted my Sky HUB, no idea what was wrong....Strange

    Download the firmware manually from their website and use the control panel to install it.

    Its showing im using firmare 2.31.183 and if I download a new one of wd it says fireware update failed.
