Dell XPS 15 2019- Wifi Speed issue

I just received Dell XPS 15 with i9 processor , 32 GB Ram.
I bought this laptop from HIDevolution and got the Wifi card changed from Killer to Intel AX200.
I'm suppose to get 275 mbps download speed as per my ISP contract.
My iPhone, iPad and another Windows laptop is showing up close to 300 mbps continuously.

However Dell XPS Wifi speed is dropping off and showing 40 mbps . I updated the latest Intel Wifi driver. Also I removed killer wifi card divers . Then I got the speed upto 300 mbps. I put the laptop on sleep mode and next day I checked the speed test which was again showing 40 mbps download speed.
I restarted my laptop and again the WIfi speed shows poor speed -45 mbps.

My router is working fine ( it is the latest netgear WIFI6) . All the other devices are showing more than 275 mbps speed . Only the new XPS has the wifi speed dropping issue .

Can you please suggest any parmanent solution ?

Also in the forum , I found a post from 2016 by y0himba , dated 18-Jun-2016 to replace the Registry Winsoc and Winsoc2 folders with two Winsoc attachments.

Can you please share the latest Winsoc and Winsoc2 folders/files.

    Thank you

Is it your router or the ISP's? I'd be tempted to call the ISP tech support and ask them if there are known issues. You know the connection is working, because the other devices have no problems. Thus, the issue is with the Dell and its Wi-Fi interface. They may know something you don't. If that doesn't work, I'd call (or chat online) with Dell Support next. Sorry for your troubles.

    Hello Ed

    Thanks for the advice.
The ISP already refreshed the signals and router has been working fine.
I have almost decided that I 'll return the laptop.

Can you recommend a really good reliable laptop with 4k resolution, i9 processor ( required for photography) , available now.

    Thank you

My dell xps 13" with the original Wifi card and everything is smooth, fast at a far range, maybe get the original one installed instead of returning the laptop. I used Nikon photo software which runs very smoothly on the XPS with a i5 core processor along with graphics design. i upgraded from a MacBook and am very happy i switched.
    hope this helps.

The Dell installed "Smartbyte" is a known cause of internet speed slowdowns. On the Dell forums if we get someone complaining about slow speed when their other devices do not have the slowdown, the first thing we suggest is to uninstall Smartbyte.

On my Dell Inspiron 15 that came with Smartbyte, my Internet speed was running in the low 80Mb/sec range. I removed Smartbyte and it jumped up to around 115Mb/sec.

Good advice, @fireberd. As for other laptops, I don't do photography stuff so I'm not sure that my experience will carry over for you. But my Lenovo X1 Extreme is a real beast of a machine -- goes off to check screen rez: yep, it's 4K (3840x2160). I can recommend this machine from recent, highly positive experience.

From the number of issues I have seen with Dell's XPS line, I would be reluctant to get one. I have an almost 4 year old XPS 15 9550 and it has run well, although I use it sparingly and no longer apply Dell updates. If you scroll through their XPS support forum, you see a lot of BIOS and driver update issues, not to mention the battery swelling problems which have occurred just after the end of warranty coverage, that have plagued the XPS line. This makes me think twice about buying another one. I am sure there are a lot of satisfied XPS owners, but as for me, I will probably switch to Lenovo when my XPS dies or otherwise becomes unusable.

There can be and are issues and dissatisfied customers with every brand. I won't buy Acer or Lenovo again.

what is to stop a computer company from making a product that will need replacing after a couple of years?

Most users are lead to believe that 4-5 is a great lifespan for a laptop, which i think is ridiculous, especially with solid components and less moving parts compared to 2000's standards.
I remember buying the macbook air in 2010 and stating to the sales assc that this laptop will last 10 years! he did look happily surprised and told me good luck! but i honestly felt so secure with the mbair because the innards were solid and sturdy.
