What do you mean by this? My ethernet works fine right now. If i disconnect the ethernet, thats when i have no internet connection at all.

Well what i did earlier was the following:
The cd that came with the usb wifi adapter, i copied that data to my computer so i would not need to use the cd again.
So when i had to follow your instruction meaning... browse my computer and browse to the folder i extracted it all to...... instead i browsed to the location where i saved the cd data on my computer.
This for some reason solved the problem.
I didnt touch the hub. I didn't mess with anything.

This desktop has always had the help of an ethernet cable to browse the internet.
So this is the very first time that i am online without the use of an ethernet cable.
Make a new system image to capture the fully-working system.
Despite the likely existence of updated drivers, you can resist the temptation to let Windows update the driver until afterwards. There is no pressing need to update the driver at all really.

The next issue is that my net is so slow. It has never been this slow. Im 2 rooms away from the hub but the hub is still reallly close.
When im browsing it takes a long while to get a page up and running. It get's frustrating lol.

Your WiFi card is 802.11ac
What is your router - 802.11ac? 802.11n?
My results were 0.9-5.4Mbps download, 1.9-3.4Mbps upload through my 802.11ac router [or up to double that if I connect directly to my wireless ISP, also 802.11ac].
I always find NirSoft's WifiInfoView useful if I'm looking into anything WiFi. Amongst other things, it will tell you if your router's WiFi is 802.11ac or something older & slower.

I would use the 2.4 band. It had better signal strength when you originally posted way back.
You said you were doing this because I think the router had limited ports. You could buy a switch, say $35 and then connect switch to router and many cables to switch (4 port switch, 8 port switch, etc)

Im am lost regarding the 2.4 band.
Im doing this because im out of ethernet cables. I also like to have the extra option of wifi on my desktop incase i need it.

You do not particularly need to know about the different WiFi standards.
- Your router produces a fast network that is less prone to interference from other networks. Its frequency band is 5GHZ and is called 802.11ac {strictly speaking, your router is producing an 802.11ac band 1 network but your new WiFi adapter can probably cope with higher bands in the 5.8GHz range}
- Your router also produces a slower network that is useable at a greater distance. Its frequency band is 2.4GHZ and is called 802.11n
- When you set up your router it almost certainly forced you to set up different Security keys for each network and might have given you the option of giving them different names so you would not get them mixed up later on.
Your computer has connected to the slower network.
NirSoft's WifiInfoView would, amongst other things, show the signal strength of the WiFi networks seen by your WiFi adapter. The results you posted on page 2 of this thread are no longer useful because you have since changed everything and got it working properly.
