now that the other driver has been updated try it in the front ports. = The front ports on the computer are not working. I do neeed to change this case but i might wait a few months to do this.

sending it back - hmmmm if the OS is the problem then no point, if its the adapter yes, check it on another comp.
my comment re the front ports if the problem was due to lack of drivers then they wouldn't work.
disconnect the ethernet cable try connecting if/when it fails run the troubleshooter - whats the explaination
that VM hub, snap, is pretty good - mrs's lappy is running quite merrily 2 rooms away on a 2.4 connection (72%)

Please would you post the list of contents of that folder on your CD - RTWLANU_Driver. I imagine that it contains an .inf file and installation could have been be achieved by just right-clicking on it & selecting Install.

Thank you all for the support.
So my desktop was about 2 bedrooms away from the hub. It was not far at all from the hub.
But now i have moved the desktop into the same room as the hub. The hub is sitting right next to this desktop. But im still having issues trying to connect through the wifi adapter
And another thing -
I bet the version number 3.00.0018 shown here does not match the version number shown by Device manager, Network adapters. If they don't match it means that this item might also be getting in the way so uninstall that as well.
And do post the driver version reported by Device manager. I imagine it is 1030.38.712.2019 [18 July 2019], v1030.22.0405.2017 or similar.

I hope i was able to answer your request Try3 with the two pictures above.
OK. After you uninstall that other thing [the v3.00.0018 thing], you can reinstall the WiFi driver over the existing one by right-clicking on the netrtwlanu.inf file & selecting Install.
If you want to, you can check what version is in the netrtwlanu.inf file first. Just open it in Notepad. It will look similar to this

I had that v1030.22.0405.2017 on my CD as well. I did not try it but have no reason to think there's anything wrong with it.
You might find that everything is OK after you have uninstalled that v3.00.0018 thing. If not, re-install that v1030.22.0405.2017 driver from the CD folder so it overwrites the current one [just in case all these shenanigans have corrupted it].
Windows update will soon offer you the 2018 /2019 version anyway. You can force this now by using Device manager to update the driver.
