Ethernet cable much slower than wi-fi

My computer is connected by an Ethernet cable and when I run Speedtest I get around 50 Mbps down and 2 Mbps up. That is way lower than what I am paying for. I thought the problem would be with my Internet service provider but Speedtest run on my tablet that uses wi-fi gets much better results. I checked the Speedtest that is built into my Netgear router and it also shows much better results. So the problem seems to be going from my router to my Windows 10 Pro computer by Ethernet cable. I used to get very high Speedtest results and I don't know what is causing this problem.

Anyone have any suggestion?

Helps to see the speedtest info from Wifi. Most likely you have only a 10/100 Ethernet port in that computer, not a 10/100/1000.

Good try, but network properties shows a 1000 Mbps connect.

If you use various online web tools, not two results are ever the same.

There are many useful websites and when used in aggregate, offer a fair approximation.

If you are using a quality Ethernet cable, Cat 5e or 6 will do just fine.
Please remember, wired (full-duplex) speeds will be higher than wireless (half-duplex) speeds.

There are many more variables than that when it comes to true speed.

Thanks for the suggestions. I am looking at getting a Cab 6 cable from the router to my computer but I really don't think that will make much of a difference. I just tried an Asus wi-fi adapter and I get a 1300 Mbps connect but Speedtest produces the same low results.

I used to get much higher results so I am starting to think the problem may be with Windows 10 PRO.

I just did a clean install a few days ago so I will take a look at the driver settings and maybe I will spot something there.

Looking at my network properties I see something called Microsoft Teredo Tunneling Adapter that is active. I don't know what that is about. I will go Google it.

I plugged a laptop into an Ethernet cable and it has a 100 Mbps connection, Speedtest showed 97 Mbps down and 111 Mbps up. Much better than what I am getting on this computer. The laptop is running the latest Windows 10 Pro FAST preview version. By the way I used to get a 1000 Mbps connection with this laptop, so Microsoft must have changed something.

Every Network adapter is going to behave differently along with OS install on different hardware.

Speedtest is easy, 42 Mbps down and .97 Mbps up. As for the data from the ipconfig command, I will need to figure out how to capture that and upload it here. Right now I have a few others things I need to do so maybe I will get to that later this evening.
