USB Wireless adapter not connecting to Wifi

    Hello

I am having trouble making my new USB Wifi Adapter to work. The drivers are working fine but the issue is it is not connecting to wifi.

    1. I am using Windows 10
    2. The adapter which I am trying to work is Alfa AWUS036NHA 150Mbps
    3. I have also one USB mini wifi adapter attached to my other USB through which I am currently using internet

From the above screenshot, the Wi-Fi 2 is which I am trying to connect. When I right-click on Wi-Fi 2 and click on Connect/Disconnect, It shows the already connected Wifi through USB mini adapter.

When I Disable WiFi and try to connect through WiFi 2 then it shows an error "Change settings, such as making a connection metered"

The device utility does not show any Wifi available connections though there are 2-3 wifi connection is there.

It appears you don't have drivers loaded for your wireless network adapter. I would suggest starting there.

It would also be helpful if you update your 'my computer' details at the bottom left corner.

In my device manager, it shows that the drivers are there and the device is working fine.

when I try to update drivers, it says the best drivers are installed already.

    Any other solutions?

    Thanks

That's interesting. In the attachment you posted above, it appears as though the driver is missing. How did you obtain that pic and does it appear differently in device manage properties for the Atheros wireless network adapter? And have you used this adapter in this PC with Windows 10 before?

Please have a look at the screenshot from device manager for Atheros Wireless adapter

If you want I can also give you access via TeamViewer so that you can have a look yourself, let me know

I haven't found a driver for that device that indicates it works for Windows 10. The driver date of 2010 makes me question if this device is compatible with Windows 10. Still looking...

This is the closest thing I could find. I tried several others that indicated Windows 10 but then it shows up in the download as only up to Win8.1

Check this out. Using Alfa AWUS036NHA on Microsoft Windows 10 – Rokland

I downloaded and scanned with Eset & Malwarebytes, checked OK. Be sure to read the blog posts on this page, for more info.

    Hello

Thanks. I did not try the method which you sent me because just now I managed to make my device work by removing all the drivers and then installing Alfa AWUS036NHA drivers in Windows 7 compatibility mode, after installing in win 7 compatible mode, The device worked :)

Thanks very much for your help and support.

Excellent and good job. The page I listed above has a blog that shows a couple of people used win7 compatibility mode successfully.
