    Connecting 2 computers

I am try to connect a WIN 10 Home to a WIN 7 Home on the same network. I get a Windows Security screen titled
    "Enter Network Credentials"

    Great, I expected that.
BUT, I am not sure what to enter. Is the Password the password to open the computer, or is it netwoek password, or something else?
Is the User Name the name that shows up on the computer login screen, or something else?

Also, needing permissions. Since I am connecting from the WIN 10, I think I need to set the permissions for the WIN 7 to let the win 10 access it. DO I do t his on the WIN 7?

    Thanks

The credentials you need to provide are the name and password of an account that exists on the Win7 machine.

Once connected, the permissions you have will be those of the W7 account you connected with. On the W7 machine grant the permissions you require to the W7 local account you will be using to connect from the W10 machine. You could, if you like, create a local account on the W7 PC specifically for the W10 PC to use when connecting, then on the W7 PC grant it the specific permissions you require.

The W7 machine currently does not have a password to login. To make the connection work, do I need to set up a login password? The W10 does have a local login password. Will the process be easier if both login passwords are the same?

I take the path of least resistance. On all my machines (W7/8/10) I create a TEMP folder, set the folder permissions for Everyone to have full control, then share it with Everyone having full control. Then I go to the 'Network and Sharing Centre' and in 'Advanced sharing settings' turn off 'password-protected sharing'. Then I can use TEMP as a 'staging post' for transfers between machines.

I generally have accounts with the same user name and password (often blank) on each machine, so I usually connect without being challenged. But if I try to connect to a machine where the account doesn't exist or the password is different I'll be asked for the password of that local account on the machine I'm connecting to, or to choose another account name if mine does exist on that machine.

OK, I psw protected the W7 computer. I finally got the W10 to see the W7 computer. I got the challenge screen. I think I need to restart the W7 machine. Even though I know the psw, I am concerned that I would not be able to login. What would I do if that happens?

OK, the W7 timed out and I used the PSW and got back in. I believe this means that I can logoff and get back in. I also, finally, connected the W10 to the W7. I was using the wrong user name and the correct psw. But, I cannot see the C: drive. I can see Users, downloads, desktop, and other dirs. How can I see the C: drive?
    Thanks
