    Can’t seem to give new computer permissions to access host shared file


    I’ve been doing this all day long. I can’t seem to get it to work. I’ve followed several tutorials, added the user to the work group and nothing seems to work.

    When I go to the share permissions for the host file, the computer/user isn’t showing up at all.

    You need to run notepad as admin then you can access it.

    Why would I run notepad as an admin when I’m trying to add a user from another computer to give permissions to a shared folder?

    Its simpler to give everyone rights and you need to set NTFS permissions on the folder
