windows application cannot see network drive

I have a fairly new computer with windows 10. I have a network drive ( "P" drive ) which is on another computer. I can see and access the "P" drive from the file explorer. However I have an application which does not see any of the network drives. This application is quite capable of accessing network drives on other machines, but for some reason it cannot see them when running on this windows 10 computer. Any ideas please ?

I'm not sure about permissions. I did set it up as shared. File explorer can see the share and access the files. When I first set up my windows 10 system it created a userid of "pfarr" for me, so I created a userid of pfarr on the other computer and made it an administrator. I have right-clicked on the share and it looks like I have all permissions set up. What exactly is NTFS permission ? ( I'm not familiar with that ).

When you connect you pass by default the username and password that your logged in as so if your not signed is as pfarr it wont know you. NTFS permissions will stop any access if not set correct Setting NTFS Permissions

When I set up my new windows 10 computer it insisted that I use a Microsoft account. So I am logged on to my windows 10 computer as user pfarrel. I set up the P" drive using file explorer and I can see it and the files in it using file explorer. I first had to go over to the other computer and create a userid of "pfarr", and make it an administrator. For the application with which I am having a problem, I have tried running it "normally" just by clicking on it from the start menu, ana also I have tried right click and "run as administrator". It makes no difference. It cannot see any of my network drives. I'm not sure what userid it runs with ( perhaps pfarrel, or pfarr ). I have tried to change permissions of the network drive using file explorer, but I always get the message "failed to enumerate objects in the container".
