    Intermittent Network Credentials Error

    Hi.
Thanks in advance for any help.

I have an intermittent problem with connecting to my NAS.

We have a small business with 4 desktops + 2 laptops and the NAS is a file server. The desktops are connected by ethernet cable. The laptops are wifi.

The desktops and laptops have mapped drives on the NAS. Sometimes they connect just fine. Sometimes I get asked to enter the Network Credentials. Even though I enter the correct password, I get this error message:

"An error occurred while reconnecting Y: to \\Block\Accounting
Microsoft Windows Network: Multiple connections to a server or shared resource by the same user, using more than one user name, are not allowed. Disconnect all previous connections to the server of shared resource and try again. This conneciton has not been restored."

Sometime, we shut down and reboot and can connect, and sometimes we cannot. I would like to know why this is happening and how to correct.

Some of our machines run Windows 10 Pro, and some are Windows 10 Home. I just did the latest updates on all systems.

If I do "Network Discovery" I can see all the drives on the NAS, but I open them. The system requests the network credentials password and then rejects it when entered.

    Thanks again.

Its as it says you are logged on allready and there are not enough logins left. Some nas you can set max number of connected users. often is something you used like say word that remembers the last doc and connects behind you back.

You can use netstat cmd with option to see connection and software connections this will tell you whats going on

netstat -a will proberley be best

thank you for your kind response, Samuria.

I am looking at the Network Connection Details, but I don't understand what any of it means, or how to use this information to fix my problem.

    Can you advise me, please.

    Thank you, again.

I think I may have found a solution. When Windows 10 shuts down, the user doesn't get signed out. You wouldn't know it though, because when you turn on Windows a password still has to be entered. But, when Windows 10 is restarted, the mapped drives don't look they are connected, and file explorer gives an error.

Signing out definitely cleared the problem. I am wondering if maybe closing the problems and waiting a minute before shutting down will also be a solution.

    Thank you again.
