Ethernet connection only getting 10 Mbps...other pcs getting 150+

This is a relatively new HP desktop with 1903 Windows 10. I just connected it to my switch (which has a couple others desktop pcs connected). They are getting around 150 Mbps.

I'm using a 5e patch cable so can you think of why there's such a disparity in speed?

    Hi @AshleyQuick
Just to check your settings, please open,All settings > Network & Internet > Data usage > Set limit > Unlimited.
    Background data > Never.
Also make sure that this settings is set to off.
All settings > Network & Internet > Ethernet > Network > Metered Connections > Off.
If this does not help, you could try a Network reset from the Status section.
If above does not help at all, please tell me what kind of programs you have installed, Such as antivirus, 3rd party firewalls, or other network related programs.

I see a couple references to 10. Why is that?

Apparently it is a wide known bug. Can you swap ethernet cables to a different one and restart the pc? Also, double check that the ethernet connection on your pc and router are securely pushed in, with little to no room for them to wiggle around.
    https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/...?page=4&auth=1

One user reported this worked for him.

On a Gigabyte GA-H81M-H MB with windows 10 64 bit the Ethernet suddenly stopped working (no lights red/green plus amber on MB adjacent to Ethernet port). It had been working happily for 16 months.
I'm in the UK and my ISP diagnosed a faulty router, while the computer said the Ethernet cable was not installed or faulty - both were completely wrong!
In truth there was a bug affecting the motherboard and after reading on the internet the fix was :
Unplug mains cable from computer , press on button to clear MB of any lingering charge, removed CMOS battery, waited 30 seconds , replaced CMOS battery and mains cable. Switch on and after resetting date and time all was well again.
So check for the lights - I think they indicate whether a cable is plugged in and detected and whether connection to the router is established -but don't quote me on that - if yours are out this fix may work for you. Tough luck if you've a laptop though - getting to the CMOS battery (or the pins to reset the CMOS) will be difficult. Discherging can be done by removing the battery and pressing the on switch for perhaps 30 seconds.

The link you posted seems completely irrelevant. That's talking about the ethernet not working. It's working fine...just seemingly capped at 10 Mbps.

I've assured both of these are as you suggested...to no avail.

In the meantime, here's a google search you can browse through. Have you tried swapping ethernet cables or updating the realtek driver?

Disregard. After rebooting, I was able to update the ethernet driver...that seemed to fix it. Thanks all.
