Explorer FTP error "No more internet handles can be allocated"

Have a couple of HDDs connected to router via USB
FTP paths were added to File Explorer using "Add a network location"
Still works for read, write, delete and drag and drop for all devices on the network except for one laptop on the same network.
The offending laptop throws a FTP folder error ""No more internet handles can be allocated". It happens to be the laptop which would do the majority of file transfers so could a limit have been reached?

The laptop and router were restarted. The network path was deleted and re-created as well, but the error persists.
Is there a way to reset or release the internet handles?
Any suggestions or solutions will be appreciated.

What is the mfg and model of your Router, are you running third party firmware on it?

Router is a TP-Link Archer C5 V2. Most recent available stock firmware is installed. I'm not aware of any 3rd party firmware that will run on it. (Do you know of any?) It's been working fine up until yesterday. All the other devices on the network can still access the drives with no problem.
Hey, while I was typing this...I did a power down and power up of the laptop and now it's working again. Strange the multiple laptop restarts didn't work to fix it.

Is SMBv1 enabled on your computers? Also do you have SSH enabled in the router for FTP? Use WinSCP to check FTP to the server.

No SMBv1 is not enabled on her laptop. My wife mainly uses the disk drives, FTP and drag and drop in Windows file explorer works for her. (trying to keep it simple for her).
Don't see a SSH setting for FTP in the router.
Whatever was gumming up the works seems to be fixed on her laptop since the power down/power up. She can access the drive and move files around again so she's happy. Still can't understand why a restart would not do the same thing.
