    Network login problem

This is on my Dell Inspiron 15-3541, is win 10 home 64bit. I am staying in a motel for a week until my new apt is ready. I can't. Find the place in win 10 to change the motel WiFi password in my laptop. The same WiFi password works in my cell phone. I am typing this post via the motel wifi.
PS, the laptop WiFi was working just fine at the old apt

It is when it shows the SSID you can click on Connect or forget.

Your computer will, as bro said, ask for the security key [password] when you first connect to a new WiFi network. You can initiate this by clicking on the network icon in your System tray / aka Notification area [the right-hand end of the TaskBar] and selecting the motel's WiFi network.

Doing this does not change anything that will affect the connection you used in your old apartment.

If you have already connected to this hotel WiFi in the past but its security key has changed since then you should be prompted when it's trying to connect and finds out that the old key does not work.

Although I do not think it necessary, judging by what you have written, if you want to start again with the motel WiFi as if you have never seen it before you can use this procedure -
    Settings,
    Network,
    WiFi,
    Manage known networks,
    Select the motel's WiFi network,
    Click on Forget.

I guess that my last post that I did direct from my cell phone didn't get posted. I now have the laptop tight into my cell phones mobile wifi hotspot, my backup ISP. It isn't as good as a regular wifi connection from ether DSL or Spectrum (that I have at the old apt). The bandwith on the mobile hotspot isn't great but it is better then nothing when the primary ISP goes down.
Anyways. this is strange. The motel's wifi on my phone has 4 signal bars (the same router in the managers office at the other end of the building) I only get 1 signal bar from the motel's wifi on the laptop. What do you guys/girls make of that? I forgot about the mobile wifi hotspot in my phone until this evening. That shows you how little I have to use it. OOO well the county Veterans relief fund (that's who is paying the motel bill) always goes for the cheapest motel that they can get. Right across the street from the rail road yard and under the final approach for Pasco Airport.

The sad thing is that with emergency vouchers, you do not get a choice where they put you up. Who is your cell provider? Do they offer a Mobile Hotspot? There are Lifeline Cell companies if you meet their criteria, that you may be able to get subsidized services.

I have a iPad with Verizon and use that more than my Macbook or Windows Desktop and was flawless while traveling in May.

    Perhaps
your wifi card is rubbish [look for comments in your comouter maker's website / user forums]
    or
perhaps the motel has 2.4GHz & 5GHz networks and your phone sees one whilst your computer sees another. [Try checking the networks using NirSoft WiFiInfoView]

My phone service is via Metro PCS. Yes they have a WiFi mobile hotspot that isn't connected to a phone. But I can't afford the extra funds for something that I mite use once in a blue moon

I do not know what you are talking about. I made no reference to your service provider but only to your hardware.

I know that feeling. I had to start all over when my ex decided that I belonged on the streets while still recovering from a back procedure. Luckily she still paid for my cell service until I was able to get back on my feet.

Now the motel's wifi password is working in the laptop. And now the screen on my Alcarel Fierce 4 cell phone is going blank. The phone still works. I was able to complete the call that I made even though the screen was blank. Ppl can call me but I can't answer the call with the screen blank. Now if I wack the back of the phone a few times against the table, the display comes back on. I guess it is time to get a new phone. This phone is 3 yrs old. Just the timing is lousy.
