Mapped Drives not Connecting all the time

SO after ditching SMB to use mapped drives I find it to be faster all around. But one thing, when I start my computer up I can see the mapped drives, but they do not connect right away. Sometimes it take maybe 10 minutes or more while other time one will connect while the other does not.

If I click on the mapped drive it then connects so I may be missing some services or something

Is there a way or script that says "as soon as you boot up CONNECT!!"

I have Windows 10 build 1903, May update only

I read the first 10 pages here and do not see any threads on this. Please help. Thank you

I believe that this is normal. It's basically just an idle connection. As a test, open a command prompt. Assume the connected drive letter is D:. In the command prompt, run "dir D:". Does it display the contents and does the connection become active?

There is an option on the "Map a network drive" panel.

Check the reconnect at signon . ALso make sure that all network drives are up running before you boot up/signon. I have a NAS box that goes to sleep if there is no activity (Power savings), that sometimes doesn't wake up quick enough before my system boots. I have to delay my signon to let it catch up or else I get the network drives did not connect message. Which requires me to disconnect the drive followed by a re-connect.

Please explain what you have in mind there (given that, before computer boot, NAS has no reason to awaken).

Are you using computer name or IP The IP should work quicker than name as it takes time to resolve the name.

You system is now out of support you should update https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/lif...d-of-servicing
