    I want to kill wifi


    I have a laptop running on an older version of win 10 which allows me to run an old commercial software program.

    So I don't want win10 sneaking an update in on me. I do not need wifi for any reason on this lap, I do not use Ethernet, I want to completely prevent this laptop from being able to access the internet in any way.

    To keep this simple I want to kill this laptops ability to access internet!

    PS: Win10 is disallowing me to delete the wifi account I had to set up to do a factory wipe and it refuses to keep it off, the connect automatically function turns itself back on. Anyway; rather then fight win10 on deleting a wifi account how do i simply kill win10 and it's insatiable desire to connect to the Internet!! Currently I have airplane mode on, unless win10 is sneaking around in the back ground!

    There are many ways to do it, you could enter wrong network info into the adapter, like bad IP and such, but Windows troubleshooting might fix it. Disable and stop this service: Network Store Interface Service.

    Are you using Windows 10 Phone or something? If you use the PC version you could just disable all network adapters since you don't use the internet.

    Most Notebooks have a hardware method useful for turning off the Wireless function such as a switch or a key combination using the Fn plus another key/Fx to physically turn it off without regard to the Operating System that is installed. Most of mine also have a light on them to signify it being on or off.

    You might find that you can disable the network adapters in the Bios so that Windows does not even know they exist.

    Failing that, you could disable the adapters in Device manager.

    Failing that you could just turn WiFi reception off by pressing the WiFi key that is explained in your computer manual.

    Failing that you could 'forget' the networks you have connected to using Settings, Network, WiFi, Manage known networks, (select each one listed in turn}, Forget.

    Windows stops you deleting the user account you are currently logged in to but should never stop you deleting any other user account you have creaated. You always need to check that you do not attempt to delete the last Admin account.

    Disable worked, hopefully win10 doesn't turn it back on!

    The only way to be sure is to remove the WIFI card/circuit board inside the laptop.....most can be taken out in a similar way to RAM. Undo the small screw and put out....or just disconnect the antenne wires.
