    Wireless devices peak low download speeds? How come?


    I get about 650 MB download through ethernet cable

    wireless 2.4G i get about 50mb do wnload
    then 5g i get about 70 - 80mb download


    router = netgear r7450, ac2600 (has the 3 antennas attached and I did the speedtests on the same server upclose in front of the router

    What type of wireless on the pc is n b g is the router set to n and above?

    Hi there

    @McSweg


    logon to your router -- address is usually something like 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1 and check the options -- usually there's a logon screen - default login is usually user : admin password : password --if it's not those the data will be probably either stuck on the base of the router or in the setup guide.

    Then there's all sorts of options for the router you can see. Different routers will have different interface but here's something like you should get.

    Note before tinkering around take a note of any settings before changing so you can restore them if you hose the thing up although there's often an emergency "Factory Reset" button - or it might be a small hole where you have to insert a paperclip.

    it's a new router all settings were pretty much default i just changed a few

    You are probably being limited by the network adapter in your computer rather than the router. In order for you to connect to the maximum speed of your router, the network adapter in your computer has to also support it.

    Open cmd.exe and enter the following “netsh wlan show al”. Copy the output to a new post on this thread.
