Which SMB is on my Network

Well, trying to get more organized today. For the life of me I cannot find the website that had a command so that one could see a list of all computers on the network and which SMB version they were using.

Does anyone know the command? I wanted to see and make sure that all my devices connected to my network were on SMB2/3 or 4. When I ran it I had some of my machines on including my newest FreeNAS v11 which the command listed it at running on 4.1. My Win 7 machine showed 2 and my Win10 1903 showed, if I recall 3. At that time I did not have all my machines on. Today, however, I have the family out of the house and it is a rare time where I can run everything, but not have them being used by someone.

I did not save the site (my bad, but in a rush to work) so if someone has the command it would be greatly appreciated. Again, it was a command in CMD that shows all connected devices and showed each devices SMB version. Thanks

To do that in an admin Powershell session use Get-SmbConnection

Or you can use powershell Get-SmbConnection in a Command Prompt (Admin). Here is a mixed network, my BT router is on SMB 1.5, a W7 machine is using 2.1, while the W10 machines are all 3.1.1. NB: you have to be connected to a machine for it to appear in the list. A File Explorer window looking at the list of shares on a network PC is sufficient, so open File Explorer at Network then open each PC you see there in a new window.

Probably not, that tells you how to tell which flavour of SMB your PC supports, not what is being used on the machines(s) your PC is connected to.

Actually when I run the command it shows me what I'm using. My NAS is not SMB1 enabled but SMB2.

When I run command it shows me SMB1 false, it is enabled and SMB2 true.

You're lucky, there are still a lot of older NAS in use that only use SMB1. My BTHub6 router has a usb HDD in its usb port as a 'cheap and cheerful' NAS, but even though it's their latest model it still only uses SMB1

At least its a USB3 port on the router, so the HDD read/write speed is good

Hi Bree, can you think of any reason why neither of these commands would work on my system? ( on .557 ). there is no error or anything it simply goes back to the Prompt.

Get-SmbServerConfiguration works but not either one above.

It will return to the prompt without displaying anything if you have no connections open for it to list. Here I ran it, then closed the connection, waited for a while then ran it again. I made the connection by using File Explorer to display the share name on the server, I closed the connection by closing File Explorer.

Okay thanks , I was thinking since I could see them in the network window that I was connected but I can see now I actually have to go to each pc from there and open a folder or something to get it to show. Had to plug a USB Drive into my Router to see it.

No. That list was delivered to you by the Master Browser, you didn't actually contact any of the machines. Asking for a list of shares is 'contact', so for each machine listed by File Explorer in Network, right-click on it and select 'Open in new window' to show its shares - that's sufficient.
