Network not seeing other computers reliably

I updated some of my systems to build 1903 and each system has network issues. I also have a single Win 8.1 which is a backup system. Back on build 1709 all my computers could see each other at any time; even my NAS box and router storage. Now on build 1903 at times one computer (my main one) will see some other 1903 systems some times and at other times it will not see some of them. I'll boot up and work like oin a Word doc and then when I want to save it to another computer like the Win 8.1, it will not see it.

I'll shut down and then start up the next day and then my system will see all computers. Other times it will start up and see all the systems, I shutdown (go do some other things), hours go by and then I boot up and it will not see them. Or it may see some of the other 1903's, but not all of the other 1903's

Just seems strange and nothing common. I have the latest network drivers from Intel (version 24.0) and some of the systems are I219 and some are I218. I have screen shots of my network discovery settings when I had 1709 and the 1903's match those. So just not sure what is going on. I have not updated as of yet (the May update KB4497935), just have not gotten around to that one yet, but then again reading the fixes it does not seem that this issue I am describing is mentioned.

Anyways, is there something I can do to test out some things? I can type the IP address and it will find the others. I can type \\nameofsystem and it will find them, but weird that it just does not display the computer icon all the time like it did back in 1709. Or maybe this is just the issue having 1903?

Please have a look at this tutorial on sharing. Please ensure SMB1.0 is enabled, understand that having SMB1.0 enable presents some security risks. Ideally mapping or using IP addresses is the way to go with SMB1.0 disabled.

Also please note services settings in tutorial.

Thanks Ken. I decided to use mapped drives over SMB and I can say it is much easier. All works well now.
