    Windows 10 1903 Updates

    Hi:

I just finished updating 2 x Windows 10 Desktops, 1 x Windows 10 Netbook and 2 x WIndows 10 running under MacOS and Parallels to v1903. All was going good for a few days except for my Creative Labs soundcards in the desktops, but have a workaround for that problem.

Sometime overnight the 2 Desktops and the Netbook will no longer connect to my router. Windows keeps telling me it has failed Authentication. I had a look thru the Networking properties and all seems ok. My Macbook Pro and my Imac still can connect to the router without any problems in both MacOS and also in WIndows. I have no idea what happened overnight to cause a problem like this. My USB Adapters are seeing my router and others in the local area but will not connect.

Both desktops are using Asus USB-AC56 Adapters and my Router is a Asus RT-AC68U Router.

Anyone else run into this problem and or have a possible fix.

    Thanks.

What chip are your adapters using, Qualcom, Broadcom, etc. (Inside the Asus USB-AC56)

There is a known issue with Qualcom, although I'm not sure how it manifest itself, and MS has a block on to prevent 1903 updates until latest drivers installed.

In looking at known issue thread it talks about loss of connectivity, not authentication.

Have you tried forgetting network and then reconnecting?

Known issues for Windows 10 May 2019 Update version 1903
    Post #8 ref. Creative...

Did you upgrade manually (using an iso) or via W Update (by which a degree of protection is afforded)?

    Hi:

Thanks for the info. It is using a Realtek RTL8812AU chipset.
Yes I have deleted the connection, disconnected the adapter etc and still no change. I am going thru a re-update of 1903 to see if that corrects the problem.

Used media creation tool and then had everything sent to a thumb drive. Going thru a re-update again to see it that will correct the problem.

It's possible that MS might not have delivered 1903 via WU on grounds of compatibility issues- manually ugrading means the risk is yours. Always best to create an up to date disk image before doing so, just in case.

You do have up to 10 days to 'go back to the previous build' of course.

I had a strange issue six weeks back. I had put new firmware in my router, Netgear, and non of my mobile devices could connect. I rolled back firmware update and everything connected.

Have you made any changes to firmware on Asus router?

    Hello,

I had the same problem today. Windows update has download Windows 10 1903 and since this was installed... No Wi-Fi..

I ve also Asus pce-ac56 up to date ( no official New driver since 2015)

I can see that Microsoft has talked about this issue but they refer to the constructor. Will Asus dors something or there is one alternative solution ?

Atm, i ve rollback to previous version. I hope WU will not installe 1903 without the release of one new driver from Asus.

I will follow this thread, thanks

Hi, assuming you have Home, you may wish to take steps to disable Windows Update. MS was to back port the new feature to control feature updates to 1809, but I haven't yet seen this.

    Lacking that, you could try
Stop Windows 10 Updates Properly and Completely

and report the problem via the Feedback Hub app - if you can, upvote an existing report.

You only see the option to download and install 1903 when MS thinks your machine is ready. That and don't click check for updates. Someone said it was back to labeling those people as seekers. In Pro Edition defer updates.

Another simple method if you don't connect to a lot of different networks, mark connection metered.

I have. It starts with 1809 Home build 17763.529.

In build 17763.529 and above you can now click Check for updates and get the latest CUs without starting the 1903 download. That will only start if/when you click 'Download and install now'.
