Windows Security pops up: application prompts for outlook credentials

For many years I am using a 3rd party indexing program (X1 Search). Everything is fine, but over the last couple of days, after launching both Outlook and X1, Windows Security pops up and requires me to enter credentials for X1.

It is useless to enter the credentials: 1. they won't stick, i.e. the next time I need to enter them again, 2. just click on the [Cancel] button and X1 will perform as before.

Have vainly been trying to figure out the reason for this pop-up.

It is a long shot on my part, not really familiar with Windows Credentials, but could it be that the X1 Search Windows Security pop-up relates to "MicrosoftOffice16_Data:SSPI:" and "Outlook.office354.com" ?

What are they being used for?

Windows 10 x64
Office 365 using MS Exchange (Default use)
but there are a number of POP accounts linked to Office 365

p.s.: I also see XboxLive - probably something to do with games(?) only. If so, then I don't use it.
Can I delete it there, or should I disable it somewhere first.

I am also in contact with X1 support. They are looking into it as well.

I'm glad to here that. I answered "Yes" to "Also X1...?", not because I am in contact with their support (which I'm not) but because my application asking for Outlook credentials is also X1. I hope you can soon share their solution...

I don't have these files, but can see that X1 tries to find them - it can't find them and then almost immediately comes up with the Windows Security pop-up asking for credentials.

Yes I had the same issue, it had to do with Norton Anti Spam. No I use all secure email so Norton AS is useless since it can not scan secure email. My solution was to go into Norton setting and turn off Anti Spam. I have no Idea about the program, X1 but I would have to assume it would be the same issue

Regretfully I didn't get any further on this.

I used ProcMon to see what is happening and specifically monitored X1OutlookService32.exe

Noticed that X1OutlookService32.exe (Outlook add-on) is calling on registry key:
HKCU\Software\Policies\Policies\Microsoft\Office\16.0\Outlook\Security
(also see: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\software\policies\microsoft\office\16.0\outlook\security)

With me, that key is missing. ProcMon showed a "Name not found"-error.
I don't know whether or not it should be there at all, meaning that it is essential to have that key in the registry.

Then X1OutlookService32.exe continues to call on:
HKCU\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Office\16.0\Outlook\Security and
HKCU\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Office\16.0\Outlook\Security\PromptForCredentials

There is no 'promptForCredentials' thing in my registry.

ProcMon showed a "Name not found"-error at the PromptForCredentials line.

Something that might be related to this is a "EnableRememberPwd" entry.

Anyway, I added DWORD PromptForCredentials=0

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Office\16.0\Outlook\Security
The "Name not found"-error at the PromptForCredentials was solved.

Error at "HKCU\Software\Policies\Policies\Microsoft\Office\16.0\Outlook\Security" remained.

However, on Internet I could not find any article on this '\Policies\Policies\' (so 2x policies).
