I would go with the Linksys 1900AC or the 1900ACS. Both are good. The ONLY CON to those is the LED lights dim over time, but Linksys will replace them for free. I had the 1900AC for 8 months, they replaced it with a free upgrade to the 1900ACS. My lights are dimming again, they are gonna replace that one with another free upgrade to the 3200ACM, but I did convince them that the 3200ACM will do the same thing, so they are checking to see if I can get a newer upgrade.
i got ac2600 by netgear and cm600. i want to get cm1000 but would it work with 1 gig net

    Hi folks
there's a nice get around to this if you want to use Wifi

    1) get USB Lan connector --- only needed if your computer doesn't have a LAN port
    2) connect this to a switch -- really cheap only costs a few USD - these usually have 4 - 6 ports for the cheap ones
3)Lan cable from switch to something like a good Netgear Nighthawk extender -- these aren't cheap but they will give full duplex and you'll get wifi connectivity from the Nighthawk extender to your modem /router which can be set now to 5GHZ for the fastest wireless signal -- this is well over your stated 300Mb/s - the current limit is just under 1Gb/s which you won't get in practice but you can easily get around 500 - 600 Mb/s.

Having the switch between computer and extender really does make a huge difference --- I use the extender as I'm in a shed around 100Metres away from my main router - and "She who must be obeyed" doesn't want any more boxes / bits of Lan cable around !!!!! so I'm banished to the shed when testing bits of computers etc !!!!

The typical standard wifi on laptops is only around (max) 54 Mbs unless you have a really modern one with brand new wifi cards that support the ad protocol. The Lan adapter method is by far the best for older equipment.

    Cheers

Yeah it would. It's a Gigabit Router. I just prefer Linksys over anyone, honestly.

Yes, that modem and router will work as stated before and the two links I posted on your other post.

    Just a note...

Nothing like a hardwired connection, if you like it.
That gives you full-duplex speeds with no wireless lag.

Nobody is forcing you to use wireless.

    FWIW.
Sometimes wireless is better. My wireless connection is 1.3 Gbps while my hard wired connection is 1.0 Gbps. Great for transferring files between my computers or working on a file on another computer.

    Hi there
unless you have the most modern wifi cards and an uncontested 5G type of connection (protocol ad) you are unlikely on any sort of consumer grade equipment to get even 1 Gb/s on consistent data transmission on wireless whatever the speed of your ISP connection -- the most usual fast 5Ghz wifi (not not the new 5g broadband with ad protocol) - protocol ac is the current 5ghz standard - will deliver around 500 - 700 Mb/s and not always full duplex either.

    cheers

No way. It could be a port issue, driver issue, wrong cabling or an error in the measurement tool you are using.

    FWIW.

Wireless-AC is half duplex. MIMO is as close to full duplex as you'll get, at least with the current AC technology.
