Internet only working with VPN on

This morning, there was a lightning storm. I turned off my PC, and then took off the power of all my devices before leaving to work. Having returned home, putting power back on everything, I'm finding I can't connect to the internet unless I have my VPN turned on. Killswitch is off. Already tried uninstalling it, restarting and resetting everything. Nothing working so far. Any solutions?

If you think the modem is fried ... then why is the VPN still working?

How does it get fried by lightning if it's not connected to electricity, though? Besides, it still turns on with lights on and all.

Try something before you go to the expense of a new modem.
If your modem has a wifi try connecting to it with another computer or phone.
Open the modem's settings (address depends on your modem) and check the settings for vpn
and turn them off if there.
Open services and look for your vpn (some like VyprVpn install their own service) stop it
if found and set it to manual. Make sure your vpn is not set to Autorun.
You might have to reboot first and then check your connection.

Open a cmd prompt with no VPN then type

    ipconfig /all

    tracert adobe.com

    post both results
