Great info on all accounts except -- Now as two people sharing a computer. We have two separate pc's. But it seemed whenever I did anything - i.e. add something to task bar, send an email, do a search - it would all show up on the other pc in the history area or the taskbar would change to reflect what I did on my pc. That's what I'm trying to combat. I think I'm getting there with your fine help. Thanks again.

Well not sure how task bar is being updated, to my knowledge Windows 7 has no way to sync.

Still the real answer is unique accounts for each user with appropriate privileges.

I mentioned about your google account, even if didn't show on computer someone using your credentials can view online and you said you are signed into browser.

Unique mail accounts and unique Window accounts.

I don't know either - all I know is if I put something on my win10 taskbar, it would show up on the win7 taskbar. I did go to google and "unsynced" bookmarks. Maybe because we both use Google browser it was syncing. Anyway it doesn't do it now. We both have gmail but separate account.
I mentioned about your google account, even if didn't show on computer someone using your credentials can view online and you said you are signed into browser. Is this a problem? No one has my credentials - as far as I know....

Sign out of gmail and open your Chrome Browser. I assume you are still signed in to Chrome.

Click on this link. If it opens your activity you have a problem as the other person using this machine can also navigate to this site.

    https://myactivity.google.com/myactivity

Maybe this is the wrong question to ask but I'll take the chance. Why not create another Windows account?

Not a problem for other person to see this activity. Don't even think she is aware of that area on Google . I may create another standard account - guess that's what you mean. Thanks again.

    Yes.

This prevents all kinds of issues, accidental deletion of your docs, unauthorized installs, misunderstood changes to OS.

It also allows the other person to set their colours, their default apps, their start pages in a browser. Everyone likes their own space.

    Tutorial for reference

Add Local Account or Microsoft Account in Windows 10

One thing I would recommend, add another local admin account. This is like having a second sets of keys. Should your profile become damaged then you can address through this second admin account without having to go through processes to activate System Admin. You only use this account in emergencies.

OK. Will do. Didn't know all those intricacies. So much to these "machines" --- thanks again.

That is why we are all members, always learning from one another.

To add another admin account, I go to Control Panel, user accounts - do I change my standard account to admin - OR add another user - thinking that's where I would add admin - it takes me to accounts on the settings page which then takes me to family stuff. I have kids so don't need what that looks like. Yikes - easier on win7 to do this stuff.
Sorry - just saw your link to doing this. I'll try that before you add more to this post.

Sorry, your account should already be an admin account. That would be listed under "Your Info"

Then if you add someone, say Alt_Admin (name of your choice) you add the individual and then you change the account type from Standard to administrator.
