    Craig: you said
All you have to do is set up a USB drive share with your router and it will start up the router's "samba" server and provide the master browser function. Nothing else is required to enable it on your router. If you can connect to the router's share from a Windows machine then everything is working.
So this implies that I do need a router with a USB port. I don't see any way to make a usb share on a router if it does not have a usb drive hooked to it. So that would mean making a share with a larger external usb . most of the time this would be ok but

What I am trying to do is share a SSD drive that is installed in my windows 7 machine desktop with 2 other computers in my home - a win 7 pro laptop and a win 10 pro laptop that has been updated to 1803. I do not want to put my ssd drive in a usb case as that will clip its wings. I am wondering still if what I am trying to do is really possible. I see its possible from Brees post if I started a public network but that would not allow me to share anything that is in the public folder..... I need full read write access for the windows 10 laptop to the folder shared on the large ssd data drive E.
I will post a graphic summary how I made it all happen if I do get it figured out. I do want to give back here

No, both my W10 and W7 PC are set to use a Private network. I just chose to show the '\Public\Videos\Sample Videos' in the W7 PC's 'Users' share as an example. In this case 'Public' was just a folder name, not the type of network. Sorry for confusing you.

View All Network Shares on a Windows PC
in this post someone is having my problem.
It does seam to show a solution.
I am confused about the part about creating user accounts with the same name and pass. Right now I have done this but I renamed my accounts to Admin for now to try things out.

So I create 3 new accounts same name and same pass - on each of my comptuers am I required to be logged into these for the share to be seen ? Will I need to remake the share ?

No, you don't need to sign in on all the machines, just on the machine you are using to connect to the others.

When you try to connect to a share on another machine the name and password you are signed in with on this machine is passed to the one you are trying to connect to. If it matches a name/password on that other machine you will have whatever access (share permissions and file permissions) has been granted to that account on the other machine.

If it doesn't match, then you will be asked for a name and password for an account that does exist on the other machine.

What is the actual name of my account Admin or zenn/admit

Can I share a folder on win7 to win 10 is this possible ?-zenadmin4006.jpg
I changed the name of this win 10 computer to Admin. But it shows remnants of the old name zen when I look the properties. So I am not sure of the name and weather or not how to tell the name for sure. Maybe the registry may tell me ? Any ideas
