Hide any local, external or network drive in Explorer

Open Registry Editor, browse to following key:

    HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer

Right click the right pane, select New > DWORD, name the new DWORD as NoDrives.

Double click NoDrives to edit it. By default it is expecting a hexadecimal value, change it to decimal. Add value for drive you want to hide in Explorer according to following table:

    DRIVE DECIMAL VALUE
    A 1
    B 2
    C 4
    D 8
    E 16
    F 32
    G 64
    H 128
    I 256
    J 512
    K 1024
    L 2048
    M 4096
    N 8192
    O 16384
    P 32768
    Q 65536
    R 131072
    S 262144
    T 524288
    U 1048576
    V 2097152
    W 4194304
    X 8388608
    Y 16777216
    Z 33554432

In screenshot, I am hiding a mapped network drive X: (value: 8388608):

To hide multiple drives, add values together. For instance, to hide drives D (8), M (4096) and P (32768), you would need to set NoDrives decimal value to 36872 (8 + 4096 +32768).

To hide all drives, you'd need to add all 26 values together and use that value (67108863).

Hidden drives can be accessed in Explorer by typing the drive letter followed by a colon in Explorer address fiels and pressing Enter.

    EDIT:

I was thinking to make a tutorial about this, but of course @Brink had already done it

Hi Kari and thanks, but I tried that along with GP "User Configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > Windows Explorer > Hide these specified drives in My Computer", but the drive did not show in the list. Starting to look like it can't be done with a mapped drive.

It works perfectly, exactly as designed.

The video I made just now demonstrates it on a virtual machine, but it works exactly the same way on physical machines:

Works just fine for me with the 1809 update.

    FWIW.

Did you try it with a USB memory stick plugged into another PC that shows as a drive on the PC that it is plugged into?
