    Windows 10 doesn't connect automatically to a Wi-Fi network

    Hi,

    I have a little problem.
Every time I boot my laptop (or restart it) I need to manually connect to a Wi-Fi network thought I've checked the "connect automatically" box.

I tried to "forget" and reconnect to that network and still got the same result after a boot/restart.

    Any suggestions ?

    Thank you

    Hi.

    Could you check

WLAN Autoconfig service. Should be set to start Automatic.

Click Start, type Services, should be at top of list.

Are you running any type of "Cleaners", VPN's, additional privacy software? Have you had any other issues lately that may have caused this change to happen (New hardware, software, system configs, other changes)

I have trialed jv16 Powertools in the recent months but now it's completely removed (including it's startup entries).
I'm using Windows 10 Manager but couldn't find any setting there that disables/enables auto connection.
    I'm also using a traffic shaper called CfosSpeed Windows 10 doesn't connect automatically to a Wi-Fi network-cfos1.pngWindows 10 doesn't connect automatically to a Wi-Fi network-cfos2.png
Again I couldn't find any setting there that disables/enables auto connection, and I do recall it worked fine with Cfos.

I had a problem with my synaptics touchpad that for some reason stopped to work so I removed the driver including it's software rebooted and it fixed the problem.
I'm also using GRUB for some time to a dual-boot with Ubuntu Linux.

    Hope it helps
    Thanks

    A couple of things.

One you could try a clean boot to see if any third party software is interfering. This is a clean boot not install.

Perform a Clean Boot in Windows 10 to Troubleshoot Software Conflicts

You might also try a Network reset.

Start > Settings > Network and Internet > scroll to bottom of right hand side > Network reset.

This might result in the need to reinstall or reconfigure any specialized communication software.

Then I think I would try the inplace repair / update.

Repair Install Windows 10 with an In-place Upgrade

You didn't mention, or I missed, what version you are on. If 1803 then this does and upgrade to 1809. If on 1809 it is a repair.

Always good to have data backed up. Non destructive process but just in case.

ditch any programs you are using and just rely on Windows. I had issues previously and found removing any WIFI managers solved the issue :)

    A twist in the story.
The problem is only with the specific network shown in the start of thread.
It's a Mini FiberBox (cable TV set-up-box + router) network.
Currently I don't know what can cause this problem, but I'll check it later.
    Anyhow it's not a Windows 10 problem.

    Thanks again
