Remote Desktop without loging off after Session

    Hi,

I would like to know if it is possible to do login on a remote computer using remote desktop but I want the session to stay on doing automatic tasks and not go to logon screen even if I close the remote desktop conection on the client side is that possible?

Its sort like a telephone call. When you hang either end it ends the call.
The only way I see to do this is if both computers were on the same network.
If you are them you could move whatever remote tasks or other programs to a virtual desktop.

If you are them you could move whatever remote tasks or other programs to a virtual desktop. and leave the
connection open. that would leave your desktop 1 clear for other things.

Not sure if you got what I mean, I'm acessing my home computer through the internet. I just don't want it to go to logon screen when I close the remote conection but keep working on the tasks that I set up with some batch files.

That is actually the way a normal disconnect of an RDP session works. Use the disconnect function, not the sign-out, shutdown or restart function. I think disconnect even gives you a warning that the session will stay active.

To verify, I just RDP into my desktop computer from laptop. Opened a browser window here to tenforums. I then disconnected. When I reconnected, the session was right where I left it, with the browser window open to right here. But, I was mistaken, there was no warning about the session remaining active.

There actually was such a message stating that the window will keep active on the remote computer but I don't trust it. I think I desconnect but not from the start menu I clicked the X (close) buttom on upper Remote Desktop title bar I guess.

Hi, yes it's possible to do what you ask for but not with RDP.

Also you should not use the built-in remote desktop that comes with windows, especially over internet.
Please use one of the following programs i recommend in the thread below,
they will give you ALOT more security including 2FA :)

Thanks, I didn't know you could connect to a remote computer using teamviewer without someone confirming and autorising the connection on the remote computer.

Well somehow it worked with Remote Desktop, the macro that I let on the remote computer is doing it's thing you just have to click on disconnect to finish the connection and not that other options on the start menu.
