How to do Remote Desktop connection from one computer to a VM on WIFI?

Let me explain my setup. (All systems involved are running Windows 10 Pro.)

I have this desktop computer with VMWare Workstation that has multiple virtual machines running. That host desktop system is connected to my Wi-Fi router that provides the Internet.

I also have a laptop that also connects to the same Wi-Fi router for its internet, that I want to use to connect to one of those virtual machines using RDP (Remote Desktop). Again, RDP from laptop to a VM.

At this stage I set up a static IP address in the OS in the VM:

and I can RDP into it using that IP from the host desktop. But when I try it from the laptop it fails.

I'll admit, networking is not my trump card. Can someone let me know what am I missing?

    ahmd,

For your VM, let's look at the network settings in VMware. With your VM selected, from the VMware dropdown menus, choose VM > Settings...

On the Hardware tab, choose Network Adapter.

On the right side, under "Network connection" choose "Bridged"

NOTE: With this setting, your VM will act like it is directly connected to your physical network. So it you have a router that automatically assigns IP addresses to your computers via DHCP, your VM will get an automatically assigned IP address (if you confire it to get an address automatically). You noted that you were manually assigning an address. If you continue to do this, you may want to put a reservation for the chosen address in your router to make sure that your router does not try to assign that same IP adress to another system on your network.

ahmd, there may be other things that we need to look at, but let's start with this. Please let me know if that works. If not, I can guide you further.
