running program through network

In xp it was easy to run a program on another computer on the one your running now.
Though normally it was to run setup programs and transfer preffrences.
Just set the folder or program up as shared and access it from the other computer
Is this still true of Win 10?
example: I have adobe acrobat pro on my main machine and I want to run the program on my laptop.

With all these things it depends on were the files are and if any dll need to be registered. If all the files are in one folder and nothing need to registered then it will run but some may need reg keys as well. The same is true of any o/s

Couldn't get adobe acrobat to work but Deer Avenger 3 worked quite well :)
