Dial-Up network disconnects after sleep mode

    Hello guys,

I have a PPPoE connection and each time PC comes back from sleep mode, it's disconnected.

I disabled the "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" from the network adapter, the problem persists.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi.

Might help if you explained network config. You say dial up, are you actually using an internal modem with a phone line connected to PC.

Or is your device connected to router (wired or wireless) and the router is connected to an external modem (DSL) that connects to phone line. (Router and modem could be one physical device).

My internet cable goes directly into the network adapter, and I created a PPPoE connection to use internet.

There maybe a settings idle time out which will kill it when it's idle. If your using a modem only it means your PC is live on the internet so there is nothing stopping any hacker getting into your PC unlike a router which stops that. Is it a modem or router make model number

No modem Samuria, direct cable into the network adapter.

Okay sounds like you have DSL. A phone wired attached to a device that is likely modem and router. You then likely use a standard lan cable out of one of the ports, assume there is four, on the device to your PC.

Your PPPoE setup should be done in the router. user name, password, IP address if needed. Then on your PC you just use a normal every day setup. (TCP IP V4 - Obtain an address automatically).

If you are truely going right from a modem to PC with Lan cable I suggest you ask ISP if you can put router between. This will act as a firewall, will allow you to connect multiple devices, like say a tablet or a phone.

If there is no traffic on a network connection, even with dial-up. That connection will go into a “green” mode, by stopping packets. A dial-up connection does not use “keep-alive” packets and will time-out. You would have to keep a ping going on the connection and not let the machine go to sleep, to keep the PPPoE connection alive. Some modems/Routers/Gateways allow for you to use them to make the PPPoE connection.
