My speed is 100mbps with optimum online. And from what i read, the CM500 would be more than fast enough? The CM600 is even more faster with 24 channels as oppose to 16 but would that be useless since we have only 100mbps and never plan to upgrade speed ever? 100mbps is very fast already. But main concern is i saw more negative reviews about cm500.

The only difference between the CM500 and CM600 is the number of bonded channels on the cable side. The CM500 will go up to 680Mbps and the CM600 will go up to 960Mbps. Neither one has a router, so you will need to maintain a separate router with either one. And in your case, it is the router that determines the quality of the WiFi, not the modem.

If money is a concern and speed potential is not, then why not go with the CM400?

Netgear has been some of the best networking devices I have run. I'm running a Netgear C7100V modem for internet and VOIP. I have a Netgear R7000 which was my main router and hit 3 floors, it is now being run as a WiFi bridge.

Hi there. Because i read that cm 400 is not good for optimum online 100 according to dsl reports. They suggest either

    Arris tm 822
    arris 6183
    netgear cm600

Or this other tp link model

I wanted to go with the arris sb6183 but issue is the reviews say there is a huge led blue lights so if its put in a bedroom, that is going to be very annoying so that is why i did not go with it. Everything else seem to be very good.

The arris 822 i can only get used and there is no new one so i don't want that. So i figure netgear is the best. Then i saw the cm500 cost under 50 dollars only whereas the cm600 cost under 90 dollars. Thus thats a pretty big price difference. We already have a netgear n600 router that optimum online lent us and its great.

But based on the we have optimum 100 which is 100mbps, is the cm500 more than good enough for us and we don't have to get the cm600? I know speed is faster but we would never upgrade higher than 100mbps as that is way fast already.

Money isn't that of a concern. But if the cm500 works more than enough, i figure might as well get that as oppose to the cm600. We currently have the arris 802 modem which is what optimum lent us. So the cm500 will be much better than that no matter what right because its faster and has more channels? I was just concerned the cm500 might have issues because the cm600 has much more better reviews than the cm500 and some ppl say the cm500 has issues. Then again, you not going to find a product with less bad reviews. The other thing though is ppl say the cm500 does run very hot compared to the cm600. So would that be a huge drawback?

Money isn't a issue on this really but if the cm500 serves more than enough for our purpose, then i dont see a point of getting the cm600. Thus I don't want the oh if i get the cm600 when its not even necessary. But i also don't want the okay pay less for the cm500 but then it has issues, then i go... why didn't i just pay for the cm600 instead. Does that make sense?

I read about the tape. But i read that blue light is everywhere in the sb6183.

Well i dont want an issue if it has problems later on if its used. So i decided on getting a new one.
