Can't ftp after switching from fixed to wifi network connection

I am using a laptop which has ethernet and wifi network connections.
The fixed connection is in the 192.168.1.X subnet (Ip address is set static in the router)
The wifi connection is in the 192.168.2.X subnet (Ip address is set static in the router).

    This is the scenario:
I use the laptop with either the ethernet or wifi network connections being
active at any one time., with ethernet being used most . Sometimes I need to do
an ftp file transfer from the laptop to an android mobile phone. For the
ftp transfer, I go into adapter settings on the laptop, disable ethernet connection, enable
wifi connection and use some ftp server on the android and client on the laptop.

After enabling wifi connection, I check the ip addresses of the laptop and android - they are
correct/router has assigned the ip addresses, BUT I just can't connect via ftp - what knowledge
am I missing to understand why this is failing/is there something more I need to reset due to
    changing network connections ?

Also, would appreciate a clarification - could both the ethernet and wifi connections be active at the same time on the laptop, if so / how does one identify which is to be used ?

Welcome to the forum. There are 2 possibilities. 1 the firewall is blocking it 2 on the router there may be a setting called user isolation or simliar that stops anyone on wifi connecting to any local pc have you tried with the cable instead of wifi as that will tell you if its firewall or wifi problem

Thanks and thanks for the answer.
Regarding 1-To be honest, I don't know how to check whether the firewall is blocking ( I turned private and public
network firewall off and tried ftp server on android/filezilla on laptop as well as an android filemanager
which has inbuilt ftp connection but no effect)
Regarding 2- I don't think this is the case - the laptop and android are in same subnet/both on wifi when
I need to do the ftp.

    Excuse the delay in answering.

I am using Filezilla on the laptop and an ftp server on the android phone named
"FTP server". It seems things are working most of the time (not sure why) .

I will do some more digging to see if the firewall is blocking in any way but besides
that, to close this thread, could you enlighten me on one thing - if the laptop
has static ip addresses automatically allocated via router for the fixed and wifi network
interfaces which are in different subenets eg 192.168.1.X and 192.168.2.X is it sufficient
just to disable one interface and enable another for everything to work properly
(I work on the fixed interface and use the wifi just for the ftp from mobile phone) ?

    Hi there
on an Android phone there's a nice app EZ file browser with all that built in and a network mapper.

Just install that -- should work a treat -- also check firewall and port settings on router.

Is the problem mainly FROM phone TO computer or the other way around.

    Cheers

Sorry guys, for not bringing this to a close 2 years ago - don't throw eggs at me yet
    - too many problems/issues.
About the EZ file browser, can't find an app by this name just EZ file explorer
and same name from quite a few developers.
