Peer to Peer Connection in home network.

    Hi Everyone !,

I have a Golf Game, (Jack Nicklaus 6) and I want to play accross my network which consists of a desktop connected to the modem by hard wire and a laptop connected to the modem by WiFi. To connect in the game I need the IP address of the computer hosting the game. My problem is that is System Properties I am given multiple IP addresses for each computer. I have attached a Word Document with the System Properties for each machine. If someone could take a peek and give me an idea which IP address to use.
The game connects via TCP/IP. They are both Windows 10 machines with the desktop having the October update.

    ip.doc

Thanks in advance for your help.

You want to look at the connected adapters. That is where at the bottom of the description it says :Connectivity (IPv4/IPv6): Connected to Internet
    not :
    Connectivity (IPv4/IPv6): Disconnected

Then look up a bit in that adapter for an address. For example, your Desktop Ethernet adapter says IPv4 address: 192.168.0.22/24. You can ignore the /24 - it is just defining the allowed range - see here if you are interested. The IP address is the bit before.

    Therefore :

    Your laptop (Wi-Fi) is 192.168.0.25
    Your Desktop (Ethernet) is 192.168.0.22

    I would probably used

    ipconfig /all

    in the future to display.

Your network use 192.168.0.XXX and lx07 has answered question.

As it is DHCP these address could change over time unless you set a static address on device or reserve addresses on router. Might be fine to set static for desktop, don't think I would do that for laptop as you could have difficulties when not at home.

    Thanks guys,
I have used those 2 IP addresses and no matter which machine is hosting the other cannot find the set-up. Error window opens saying 'Cannot find any connections'

Make sure to allow the golf program in Windows firewall settings.

Also look at the help pages for the golf game and see which ports it needs opened. Is your network connection listed as Private? That probably needs to be checked as well:

    Thanks Cmdr.
I thought the firewall might be the answer but alas the game is already permitted.
I even logged into my router and verified the IP addresses as above.
And my Network profile is set to 'Private'

You may need to open specific ports. I found this on a discussion board:
27100 - 27115 are needed for the game server. I added Ports 27000-27015 for UDP and 27014-27050 for TCP. These are Steam ports! I know the chat runs on a PP Server, but friends etc. seem to come directly from steam. So you may give it a try.

Commander, That all sounds good but talking about ports and such goes beyond my confidence in my abilties.

Samuria, Thanks. I can share folders and printers with no problem.
