Thanks everyone for all your replies, So it's not me alone

If this is a glitch then hope M$ will fix it soon. If they intentionally did this then I don't know how many more such BS I need to face them before totally moving to Linux (already have Win10 & Ubuntu dual boot).

An agent at Microsoft Community says that disabling remote audio has solved this issue for some users:

Couple of our users were able to fix the issue by disabling the audio that comes from the Remote session.
I suggest you to try disabling the audio for the remote desktop and check if that helps in resolving the issue.
Please follow the steps mentioned below:

Press and hold Windows key + R, to openRun box.

    1. Type mstsc and click on OK.
    2. Now, click con Show Options.
    3. Click on Local Resources.
    4. Click on Settings.
    5. Click on Do not play.

Click on OK and try using the Remote connection now.

Remote desktop connection freezes while using any other window

Thankyou, I'm trying this now, will report back after a day or so to see how it goes.

Since they're aware of the problem it'd be nice if they could adress in in a future update. Kindadefeats the whole idea of having the option there if ya can't use it.

I never liked RDP. I use VNC.
So if RDP is now (partly) broken ...

Same issue here. Just updated my remote PC to 1809 and now experiencing this black screen after minimizing RDP. Thought it was something bad with an update so I tried resetting my windows update and searching again for updates that were maybe borked but no luck.

The disabling remote audio did not work for me either.

Well, if you don't use it then it will not affect you will it?

I find RDP is more efficient (uses less bandwith) and more convenient (don't need to install anything on host) than other solutions and I can easily access host from phone, macOS or Linux.

Normally I use what I'm told to though to be honest.

I don't have a good fix but do have a workaround that works for me. Maybe for others too? BTW, I started getting these black screens immediately after the March 12, 2019—KB4489899 patch Tuesday patch was installed.

I found that as long as I don't minimize but instead click the "Restore Down" button and keep the remote session open in a small window that it doesn't go black on me. It's annoying and I still end up minimizing way too often but as long as I'm careful this does seem to work for me.

I've given it a day and disabling the shound doesn't work for me either.

Be nice if Microsoft would do something about it.
