Shared folders don't work with Windows 10

I avoided Windows 10 for very long out of obvious reasons, but now I had to change because my hardware isn't supported anymore. I run two PCs, one serves as a NAS. Both have the same Windows 10 1809 version installed. Before I had 8.1, which always worked flawlessly, beside of not having Ryzen chipset drivers. Hardware:

    • PC 1: B350 chipset, Ryzen 1700, Realtek GbE LAN
    • PC 2: X470 chipset, Ryzen 2700X, Intel GbE LAN
    • Router: Telekom Speedport Hybrid

This happens now. All the background services are activated, the PCs can see each other but not access. Windows 10 seems to be a real step back.

Is there a solution to get home network groups working again, maybe through a third party solution or hack?

Welcome to the forum. As this an English speaking board we cant read you error shots. When you setup a share you give permissions on the share and then you must also give permissions on the NTFS on the folder have you set both those correctley?

What folders are you sharing if your trying to share a user folder in the profile like desktop they have special permissions set so you wont be able to get to them

I can try to direct translate these shots. The error messages should look familiar with these problems.

I shared the whole drives to Everyone. Both PCs are in the same workgroup.

Image #1: "Network error - Access to \\ is not possible - Ensure the name was written correctly. Maybe there is a network error. Click on "diagnosis" to identify and resolve the network problems. Error code: 0x80070035 The network path was not found"
Image #2: "Access to \\ was not possible. You currently have no permission to access this network resource. Contact the administrator of the server to find out if you have permission. The user could not log in due to account restrictions. Maybe empty passwords are not valid, there are log in time restrictions or a policity restriction has been enforced"

So its basically the same thing I did with Windows 8.1, its just not in a home network group anymore.

Basically you can't share the drive in that way even if your on the PC as administrator a lot of folders you won't have rights on. By default the drive is shared as an hidden admin share you connect to it as c$ and must give an admin username and password for that pc it will then work
