    Finally- Unblocked laptop network sharing

Since this past summer after an update the Win10 laptop would not connect to the Win10 desktop.
File and Print sharing resource is online but isn’t responding to connection attempts has been the troubleshooting result. Desktop TO the laptop has operated just fine.
I kept hoping one of the updates would clear up whatever was the issue but that has not happened.
That troubleshooter result message is not definitive. It included that perhaps a port was involved but no errors were found with the firewall.
Today I did the 'shut off firewall' in the Desktop and instantly the shared folders were available in the laptop. Files could be moved from laptop to desktop or vice versa.
Now the issue was how to manage this on/off firewall status
I found this info at the Windows Club site
    https://www.thewindowsclub.com/creat...ndows-firewall
This will do for me since the laptop is a secondary machine and the one way sharing has been an irritant rather than a show stopper.
For someone who is constantly or actively sharing between machines turning firewall off and on likely would become an irritant.
There has to be some little item that blocks the printer which is plugged into the router.

Basically this is a share in case anyone else has network sharing issues with this same error report.

I have found a discussion on the Microsoft social technet where a firewall rule was created to allow the IP address through on the 445 port.
I have already followed the Brother instructions to add a port 54926 for my Brother Laser printer but no solution resulted.
I interpret that the 445 port is closed off in the Defender Firewall.
