What is the best WiFi repeater or extender?

What is the best WiFi repeater or extender? Can hardly pick up at times upstairs in back bedroom now and again. Especially when more devices join the network. With Sky fibre max broadband if that helps and it's the Sky Q hub if that helps too. Thanks in advance.

After no end of trouble with wifi repeaters at a friends house I removed them and replaced with 'Ethernet over Power' (EOP) devices. These have been in place over 3 years now and have performed flawlessly.

Have a look for 'Powerline' or 'HomePlug'. Their use is dependent on the state of your home wiring but, when they work, they tend to work surprisingly well and distance isn't an issue.

Here in the UK I used BT 500 units (now discontinued; newer units are even faster) which provided both 2 ethernet ports and wireless at much faster speeds than ordinary wireless repeaters... perfect for streaming video and large data transfers.

There's several alternative manufacturers. The only ones I didn't get on with were Devolo. In my experience they don't play well with other manufacturers (and I was advised against them by my local Maplins store which had had several returned), even though Powerline is supposed to be an EOP 'standard'.

    Hope this helps...

Cheap is taking a Wireless Gateway and turning it into a Access Poit. Best would be something like the Engenius EAP-1750H.
