    Hi everyone
I would be the first to admit that all the routes I have found and tried have left me a little 'lost'
Whilst the spare router worked, I have no lasting confidence in talktalk routers.

I decided to re-install the netgear DGN3500 - I did reset it, however it had held its settings (which surprised me).

At the moment all seems well. In the last few days, there have been so many erratic quirks and errors - I will leave it as it now is, and see what happens next.
Again my thanks for your patience and guidance
    Cheers

If properly reset (and is not malfunctioning) all the default settings would be in place with the last firmware installed. Very strange.

Let us know if the problem reoccurs.

    Take care.

Thanks for your time Compumind -
this whole saga has been a strange one. At the moment all is well I am happy to report. The netgear DGN3500 seems to be behaving as it should.
It has come to light that in the last two weeks talktalk broadband has been experiencing many outages !!
I should have checked this at the start. It may be that I have been chasing two or more problems at the same time.
    Again my thanks
