These services were already set to automatic.
At present one desktop can't see but the laptop. The other can see itself and the other desktop and laptop. The laptop can only see itself. Own shares are accessable and the laptop is accessable from the other two desktops. I have performed an upgrade with version 1809 on all devices, but this doesn't bring any relief. I assume the 1803 and 1809 updates are the culpritts and microsoft should produce the solution

I am in the exact same situation.
I have 2 desktops with wired ethernet that can see each other. Sometimes. It seems like it changes daily. I just looked again and right now no, they cannot see each other. My laptops are on wifi and they cannot see the desktops. I have enabled everything above and tried everything I can think of. I am trying to set up my wife's laptop so she can print to one of my printers. Seems simple enough right. I'm going crazy. One of my desktops has a shared laserjet but since I can't see the desktop, well I can't see the printer either. I also have a network printer. My laptops will not see it either. It shouldn't be this difficult. My home computers on my home private network. I just want to be able to share things between computers and maybe print something once in a while. I have a good router, it's Asus. Could it be a setting in the router? I have been looking, everything seems correct, but I may not know what I am looking at.

I have done everything advised by the respondents of this thread, but nothing solved my problem. I have done more:
changed my window accounts from local to microsoft and tried to connect in command mode using" \\computername\N$\share. The latter failed also: access denied, some problem in your network. I have the feeling my possibilities are exhausted. I would like to think this problem should be omnipresent among all 1809 users having a home network. Obviously this is not the cause. What is wrong with my private network?

I am afraid you will have to buy a wifi printer for the time being!
