One computer on my network can't see the other

    Hi,

    I'd love some help please.

I have two Windows 10 PCs on the same network. One is on Wifi and the other connects to the wireless router via a power link plug socket.

Within the Netwok tab of Windows Explorer, the desktop PC can see the laptop and can open the shared folders. It can't add or edit anything to them, despite the permissions on the laptop shared folder being set to edit/change for all users. But that's another question.

The issue is that the laptop cannot see the desktop in the network tab, only itself.

Could someone please advise what settings I need to make sure I have on so that both computers can see each other?

    Many thanks

    Matt

When connecting to a share you also have to set NTFS permission on the folder. If it can't see the other pc can you connect using its IP instead of name?
