    Space is so cheap, no I just image.

    I reimaged the machine and it now gives me.private and public options.

    Other than sharing the folders with the everyone group so that the other laptop can see them do you recommend any best practice for sharing data between the 2?

    Not really.

    If you want to isolate what is shared create users on the machine with all the data. Then allow those users access to specific files / folders.

    Then when you are connecting to this data store have them come in using the user name to assigned them. This way they only share what you want them to see.
