How do I connect to Wireless modem when moving computer

Hi,

Can anyone provide me with a solution to the problem that a friend has experienced with his Windows 10 PC.

My friend had his PC switched off for some time and decided to move it from where it used to be into another room.

He has a Telstra Modem using a wireless connection. He informs me he cannot get this pc to connect or detect his wireless modem and yet his tablet can do so without any problem.

He has been trying for about 3 days, he asked me for help , I don't have a wireless modem as such but a dongle that's connected to my pc via USB connection.

Can anyone provide me with any steps to get this sorted.

The only thing I know is going into Control Panel, then go to Network or Network and Connections, after that, I'm a bit stumped.

Any help would be appreciated.

Does your friend computer detect other wireless networks?
Did he reinstalled computers wireless network card driver?

Hi Freebooter,

I asked him earlier today whether it can detect, he said nothing can be detected. He switched the pc off and waited for an hour then rebooted, still his main pc could not detect any network (according to him - his is not that savvy with computers). I don't think he has reinstalled the computers wireless network card driver, as far as I'm aware he received a modem from Telstra and he uses that to connect to his pc for internet. Yet his other devices can detect the modem and have no problem connecting.

He could have done something to the pc when moving it, but that's only speculative on my part.

Looks like its wireless card causing the problem he can uninstall the wireless card driver and install latest version of the wireless card driver which he can found it at manufacturer website of the wireless card .

Its possible it to far away for the wireless

I guess anything is possible at this stage, I'll be seeing him on Thursday morning and have a look at what he has or hasn't done.

I remember saying to him he might be out of range, he then said his notepad can detect it, he definitely does not know much about computers, I only know a bit more than he does through learning and lots of trial and error the hard way. I know there are a lot more savvy and resourceful people around more than I, hence writing a topic for help. I very much appreciate everyone's input.

Maybe the network card that he currently has only supports 5g (much more limited distance than 2.4g) and his tablet uses 2.4g ?
