    Hi,

I have not checked with him as to what card he uses, as far as I'm aware Australia only has 4G, only Telstra is starting to work on 5G at this point in time.

Regardless of Cellphone tech, the wifi tech is 2.4ghz and 5ghz.

    Update,

I have not been over as yet, been put back until next week. I spoke to the person over the phone, he ran troubleshooter and message came back saying something to the words of "Ethernet not connected or plugged in"

His pc cannot detect any WiFi spots so he said. I asked him if he has removed and replaced the network card, he does not know anything about it. All he knows about pc is power on and power off and play around with movies, apart from searching the internet.

I suspect it might be a hardware issue, hopefully it's not a situation where he has to back up his data and do a complete system install from scratch.
    Cheers

    Hi folks

    1) check the adapter settings -- might be that the wireless adapter has been disabled.

    2) Failing that it's possible the wifi card doesn't have a powerful enough receiver so can't detect the signal -- test that by enabling your smart phone as an access point - the wifi card should be able to detect that.

    3) easiest solution IMO is get a wifi extender and plug a piece of LAN cable into the LAN port on the extender from your computer -- most of these wifi extenders have at least 2 LAN ports on them. You can if the wifi extender is even half way decent set it to receive the 5GHZ wifi signal which would improve your broadband experience -- wifi at 5GHZ ac can get a theoretical max of around 866 Mb/s .

    Hi Jimbo
Many thanks for your input, definitely will be checking this out on his pc when I see him next week.

Apparently his Notebook can connect to that Device in the other room, so he said.

    Cheers,
    Peter

    Further Update.

Spoke with my friend today, he said there has never been any dongle or wires connected from the wireless modem to his pc. The pc is a Medion Brand purchased from ALDI a long time ago. There is no antenna connected to his pc. It's obviously wireless enabled pc and had to enter the details required found on the card.

In further conversation it might be something he has disturbed inside his pc when he transported it from one room to the next.

He also tells me the pc cannot detect any WiFi sources. Thursday next week about 9.00am is when I see him to go over his pc.

Thanks for all the help and suggestions people, it all helps.
    Cheers
