If there is an adapter hardware issue could that cause WiFi to not appear in Network Settings?

Card went bad or could be other issues. Always best to reseat the card and also use a Ubuntu Live USB or DVD to see if it sees the device. The 726x card run around $31 USD and are well worth it if you want the faster speeds.

It is actually an easy job. Removing the cover is just a matter of pressing a couple of buttons and sliding it off.

To remove the wifi card just undo the two screws that hold it in.

I would just get the Intel AC-7260/5 Mini-PCiE card to replace that Wireless-n. While you have the compartments open, blow out with a air can for any dust and such. Yes those cards can go bad. The Bluetooth adapter is on the top part of the back panel.
Removed the card and replaced it. Did not work.

Anything else I can try? Should I bother with a Windows re installation?

Is there any point in trying Driver Easy?

I agree with bro67. It looks like the card has died. Replace it.

The Intel AC-7260/5 Mini-PCiE has good reviews but do not want Bluetooth. What would be a comparable Intel card without Bluetooth?

Nope. It will not use BT, if that extra pin is not available in the mini-pcie slot.

I believe Bluetooth was an option on my machine. Is the extra pin available in the PCIE slot?

Nope. Your All-In-One has a slot on the top. Suggest reading through the tech manual link I posted.
